RSUs, burnout, and a nagging sense that your money isn't doing what you want it to do. I help people in tech create a plan that actually fits their values — not just their spreadsheet.
Most financial planning firms weren't built for the realities of a tech career — RSUs that create tax headaches, salaries that feel abstract against the cost of living, and a creeping suspicion that you're either doing nothing with your money or doing too much.
Concentrated RSU positions, tax lots, auto-sale plans, wash sales — you've nodded along in open enrollment for years hoping it would sort itself out.
Bonus quarters feel flush; other months feel tight. You want clarity on what you can actually spend without second-guessing yourself.
Not ready to quit — but the question is there: what would it take to leave in two years? Five? We run the numbers so you know what's feasible, not just theoretically possible.
You've heard "you should have X times your salary saved by 40" and thought: that guideline was not made for you. You want something tailored.
People I work with
Tech workers with RSUs they've been meaning to deal with for years — and a tax situation that's gotten complicated
Couples where one or both partners work in tech, with money in different places and no shared framework
People quietly wondering how much longer they want to stay in their current role — and what it would actually take to leave
High earners who feel like they should have this figured out by now — and are tired of feeling like they don't
Not sure if this is for you?
The intro call is 30 minutes. No documents, no numbers, no pressure. We talk about what's on your mind and figure out together whether this makes sense.
The Holistic Planning engagement is the most comprehensive thing I offer — and the most popular for tech workers. After an intro call to make sure it's a good fit, here's what happens over the following 4–6 weeks.
We map out everything: accounts, income, spending, RSUs, benefits, debt. This is often the first time someone has laid it all out with another human. It feels exposing — and then grounding.
~60 minsWhat if you cut your hours? Left your job in two years? Retired at 52? Took that pay cut for the role that actually sounds good? We run the scenarios. You see the tradeoffs clearly.
~60 minsYou get a written plan with cash flow recommendations, retirement projections, investment guidance, insurance analysis, estate planning basics, and a to-do list in plain language.
~60 minsThese three meetings happen over 4–6 weeks, after the initial intro call. You also get access to your plan in RightCapital software, plus video summaries to revisit anytime.
This isn't a generic retirement projection. It's built around the actual complexity of how tech workers get paid, save, and plan.
Auto-sale plans, tax-efficient selling, managing concentration risk, what to do with proceeds — all of it, specifically to your grants.
A framework for spending confidently — separate accounts for separate goals, so you know what's actually available without running mental math every time.
What would it take to make work optional? We figure out the actual number, stress-test it, and chart a path to get there.
RSU tax withholding, capital gains timing, estimated payments, Roth conversions — and coordinating with your accountant so your tax strategy actually holds together.
How much to save, where to save it (including state tax deduction strategies), and how to avoid over-funding accounts your kids may not use.
Disability insurance, umbrella coverage, wills, health care directives, beneficiary audit — the basics most people keep meaning to do.
Tech careers come with a specific set of money problems. These aren't edge cases — they're the conversation I have every week.
We analyze your tax situation, your concentration risk, and whether an auto-sale plan makes sense for your situation.
We build a decision framework for bonus seasons so you're not just moving money into accounts hoping something works out.
We model what the transition actually costs, what you'd need to have saved, and how to make it financially viable.
We stress-test your plan against job loss, model your runway, and make sure your safety net is sized correctly.
Picture a tech sales manager sitting on concentrated employer stock, mulling whether to sell her house, and quietly anxious every time she checks her bank balance. Over the course of our work together, we build an auto-sale plan for her RSUs, reallocate her retirement accounts, coordinate with her accountant on a messy tax situation, and set up a cash flow system with separate buckets for different goals. By the end, she's not making more money — she just finally knows what to do with it.
Picture a software engineer and his spouse — good earners, money scattered across accounts they haven't really looked at, worried about bubble risk in their company stock, and no shared framework for any of it. We build a clear RSU strategy (which grants to sell automatically, which to hold), a bucketing system for vacations and charitable giving, a 529 approach for both kids, and an insurance review. Every decision now has a rationale they both understand — not just a vibe.
I don't earn commissions and I don't take a percentage of your assets. You pay a flat fee for the work we do together.
Ongoing monthly support available after the planning process — $220/month (individuals) or $320/month (couples). No minimum commitment required.
Before starting Conklin Shure Financial, I spent nearly a decade in tech — including helping build financial planning software used by thousands of advisors. I know what it's like to be a high earner who doesn't feel like financial advice is built for you.
I started my own firm because I wanted to do this work in a way that's more honest, personal, and grounded in what actually matters. No asset minimums. No commissions. No sugarcoating.
I co-founded a microloan nonprofit before pivoting to tech. I got laid off. I started my firm. I know what career transitions feel like from the inside — and I know what it means to want your money to give you options, not just a number to brag about at dinner.
I have a lot going on — RSUs, a rollover 401k, equity from a prior job, a rental property. Is that too complicated?
That's exactly the kind of situation this process is built for. The more moving parts you have, the more valuable it is to have someone map the whole picture. You don't need to have it sorted out before we talk.
Do I need a certain amount of assets to work with you?
No. I charge flat fees, not a percentage of assets, so there's no minimum. I work with people who are still building, questioning, and figuring it out — not just the already-rich.
I'm not sure I want to leave tech, I just want to understand my options. Is that okay?
Completely. Most of my clients aren't planning to leave anytime soon — they just want to understand what's possible. Running the scenarios doesn't commit you to anything. It just helps you see what flexibility you actually have.
What makes you different from a robo-advisor or a regular financial planner?
Robo-advisors invest your money but don't plan with you. Most traditional planners charge a percentage of assets (which creates a conflict of interest) and don't specialize in the tax and equity complexity of tech careers. I charge flat fees, I specialize in this, and I talk to you like a person — not a spreadsheet.
What does the intro call look like?
It's 30 minutes. No numbers, no documents, no pressure. We talk about what's on your mind, I explain how I work, and we figure out together whether it's a good fit. You won't be asked to make a decision on the call.
Do you work with couples where one partner works in tech?
Yes. A lot of my couples are in that situation. The holistic couples plan is $3,200 and is designed to help you build a shared understanding of your finances and plan together, even if your financial lives are still pretty separate.
